Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) Programme


About the CMP Programme

The Convention Industry Council launched the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP)® programme in 1985 to enhance the knowledge and performance of meeting professionals, promote the status and credibility of the meeting profession, and advance uniform standards of practice.

Today, the CMP credential is recognized globally as the badge of excellence in the meeting, convention, exhibition, and event industry. The qualifications for certification are based on professional experience, education, and a rigorous exam. The CMP exam was developed and is maintained by meeting professionals from all over the world who volunteer their time to ensure that the programme reflects the best practices in the meeting management field.

The CMP programme aims to increase the professionalism of meeting management professionals in all sectors of the industry by:

  • Identifying a comprehensive body of knowledge in the meeting management profession
  • Promoting industry standards, practices and ethics
  • Stimulating the advancement of the art and science of meeting management
  • Increasing the value of Certified Meeting Professionals to their employers
  • Maximizing the value received from the products and services provided by CMPs

 

The CMP certification programme is a two-part process in which you must complete the CMP application to demonstrate your eligibility, and then successfully pass a written examination covering the functions performed in meeting management.

 

Eligibility Critieria to Apply

  1. Accumulation of thirty-six (36) total months of full-time work experience in the meeting, event, exhibition, hospitality and tourism industry. The 36 months must have taken place in the past five years but they do not have to be consecutive months. The 36 months must be reflected in a resume or CV with your application. The experience you list on your resume should demonstrate meeting management responsibilities or your role in contributing to the planning, execution and results of meetings.  
  2. Accumulation of twenty-five (25) Continuing Education (CE) Clock Hours in the past five years.

 

To facilitate the accumulation of the CE Clock Hours for CMP certification/re-certification, SACEOS is offering the following educational programmes with approved CE Clock Hours:

  • Professional Conference Management (PCM): 23.5 CE Clock Hours
  • Professional Exhibition Management (PEM): 19.5 CE Clock Hours
  • Professional Events Management (PEvM): 15 CE Clock Hours
  • CMP Alignment Workshop: 07 CE Clock Hours
  • Bidding to Host Association Meetings Workshop: 06 CE Clock Hours
  • Technology in MICE Workshop: 06 CE Clock Hours
  • Integrated Communications in MICE Workshop: 06 CE Clock Hours
  • SMF2017: 14 CE Clock Hours

 

For individuals who wish to clock in his/her CE clock hours upon completion of the accredited programmes are to send in his/her EIC account information (i.e. First & Last Names and Email Account used to create his/her EIC account) to Secretariat at secretariat@saceos.org.sg within 30 days after completion of programme.


SACEOS CMP Package

To provide a well-rounded environment for individuals preparing to take the CMP examination, an individual can sign up for a CMP package with SACEOS which includes the following:

  • Professional Conference Management (PCM) Course
  • CMP Alignment Workshop
  • Study Groups (Optional)
  • CMP Ultimate Study Pack
  • PCMA Online Prep Course
  • Administrative assistance

 

Programme Fees

  1. CMP Package (payable to SACEOS)
    •  SACEOS Members: SGD 2,664.30 nett (SGD 2,490.00 after 7% GST)
    • Non-Members: SGD 2,985.30 nett (SGD 2,790.00 after 7% GST)

Note that the CMP Application Fee of USD 250.00 and CMP Examination Fee of USD 450.00 are payable directly to EIC.
